Public Notice of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs)

The Parkersburg Utility Board, a Municipal Utility, hereby provides public notice that it owns and operates a combined sewer system with outlets that have the potential to discharge diluted sewage and storm water. During dry weather these outlets are normally not active; however, during rain or heavy snow runoff events, these overflows may discharge and pose a potential health risk from contact with the receiving stream. You are advised to avoid contact with the water around these outlets during these overflow events and for at least 24 hours thereafter.

All outlets are clearly marked with signs providing the outlet number contained in the Utility Board’s NPDES permit along with a warning to avoid contact. If you have any questions regarding this advisory, please contact the Parkersburg Utility Board at 304-424-8535.
