PFOA (C8) Lifetime Health Advisory

The EPA has now issued a Lifetime Health Advisory for PFOA (C8) and PFOS in drinking water. To provide Americans with a margin of protection from a lifetime of exposure to PFOA and PFOS from drinking water, EPA established the health advisory levels at70 parts per trillion(ppt) for each compound or in combination. Ongoing testing of the Parkersburg Utility Board's (PUBs) finished water leaving the treatment plant indicated PFOA levels for the past three years to average33 ppt., well below the long term advisory level. Currently the City of Vienna water supply is not connected to PUB's distribution system. Recent reports have revealed Vienna's drinking water may have levels of PFOA that exceed the 70 ppt Lifetime Health Advisory. The Vienna PFOA levels will have no impact on PUB's water system customers.
